Straight wired and working
After going through our third heating element ------$49 for a replacement was getting too-expensive. Moving ahead, investigation showed that the weak point is in the control contacts where significant amount of arcing takes place over a period time killing the ability to reach an adequate grilling temp. (element would get red and cut off and not coming back on until thermo cooled off). To solve this problem we by-passed the control element and all works might fine now. End result; the element stays on high all the time and works mighty fine for our cooking.

Product is being used in a homemade smoker, we smoke all our own meat, venison, hams etc.

Identical Replacement Part
The push together connections need to be reworked to last. They loose contact and burn up the controller. This replacement is identical to the original. Yes! The original had the same problem. I love my smoker and will continue to buy Heat Elements so I can continue to smoke meat.
