There are no unfriendly smelling propane tanks only the ease of using a standard electrical outlet. Suitable for use indoor and out and comes with a safety switch that is activated when the unit is tipped. Patio heater is freestanding. Heater has three setting, 700, 800, or 1500 watts. UL approved.
